Meghan Markle has been urged to remove adverts from her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder. The 43-year-old has, so far, released two episodes of her podcast, and has opened up on a number of personal experiences, including her heart-breaking experience with miscarriages and how she juggles work and home life when her children are poorly.

Speaking to the Express, PR expert Rhea Freeman said: “I genuinely don’t love the way the ads are placed in the podcast – I’m not entirely sure who the person voicing the ads is [this might be on me and it might be really obvious!].” She added, however, that “the way the ads are implies I should know this person and respect their opinion.”

Speaking of other podcasts, she added that it is generally the host that does the advertisements in between the podcast conversation – something that Meghan does not do.

Ms Freeman added: “Generally, in other business podcasts when ads are presented in a similar way, it’s the host that voices them and connects to his or her genuine experiences with the product or service.”

Despite expressing that, she added that she understands the purpose of adverts – specifically in podcasts. She added, “I do, of course, understand that podcasts cost money to produce, let alone the host getting paid for their work, but it’s essential that podcast ads align with the host and the audience to make them effective.”

Meghan has returned with a second attempt at podcasting, after her first season of Archetypes was not renewed by Spotify

The idea of Meghan’s podcast is to gain “insights from a handful of amazing women who have scaled small ideas into successful companies”, with the mum-of-two also using the platform to discuss her own experiences.

According to Lemonada Media, who Meghan signed with last year, Confessions of a Female Founder includes “fly-on-the-wall conversations” which will “inspire anyone who’s interested in turning their own entrepreneurial dreams into a reality”.

Even if listeners are not entrepreneurs themselves, Lemonada Media promises that they will enjoy the episodes. They added: “Anyone else who just wants to hear what really happens behind the scenes.”

With episodes released weekly, Meghan will release her third episode on April 22.
