In a caption for the post, Meghan reiterated her enduring love for food, gardening, and entertaining. ‘This new chapter is an extension of what has always been my love language,’ she wrote, ‘beautifully weaving together everything I cherish – food, gardening, entertaining, thoughtful living, and finding joy in the everyday.’

Could this be the reason for the name change? A symbolic evolution away from her royal interlude and a move back to her original passion? The Duchess of Sussex offered an alternative explanation in her Instagram video: rebranding American Riviera Orchard to As Ever allows her brand more space to grow. As she put it: ‘Last year, I thought “You know what, American Riviera, that sounds like such a great name: It’s my neighbourhood, it’s a nickname for Santa Barbra.”

But, she continued, the name ‘limited me to things that were just manufactured and grown in this area.’ When Netflix accounted that they would partner with the Duchess for both her show, With Love, Meghan, and for her accompanying lifestyle business – ‘which was huge,’ Meghan admitted – perhaps she realised that a less localised name might offer opportunities for more diverse, and wider-reaching, endeavours.

‘Of course, there will be fruit preserves,’ she joked. ‘I think we’re all clear at this point that jam is my jam – but there are so many more products that I just love, that I use in my home, and now it’s time to share it with you.’
