Meghan Markle stepped out with Prince Harry at New York’s esteemed Lincoln Center to talk about her latest Netflix endeavour, making it clear that reality TV was never the goal.

Gracing the stage at the TIME100 Summit with journalist Jessica Sibley, the 43 year old Duchess of Sussex cut a stylish figure in a linen beige pantsuit and a crisp white shirt.

The mother of Archie and Lilibet, who she shares with 40 year old Prince Harry, radiated joy in her first public outing with her spouse in several months. In her discussion, Meghan offered insights into her creative process for With Love, Meghan, the series that has sparked much conversation for its mix of lifestyle, cooking, and personal musings.

“I didn’t want a reality show,” Meghan clarified, amid rumours about the nature of her series.

“The crew – how are we going to do a cooking show that doesn’t feel like a typical [show]?”

The dialogue provided a glimpse into Meghan’s mindset on not just the series but also her views on family life, creativity, and maintaining equilibrium.

She shared that they filmed in a rented house to maintain a sense of normality for her children, reports the Mirror.

“Eighty people in the kitchen isn’t really the childhood memory I’d like them to have,” she remarked, highlighting her desire to protect her kids from the intrusive nature of production.

Meghan Markle has opened up about what motivated her to create the project, stating that nurturing others is closely tied to her own sense of wellbeing.

“Part of what’s really, really important is that love language of taking care of people feeds me,” she said.

“It’s in many ways part of my self-care.”

She found that the process of creating the series gave her energy, rather than draining her.

“Doing it in a way that’s thoughtful and so authentic – it actually energises you as opposed to depleting you,” she went on.

The “flower sprinkles” featured in the series, which have become a social media sensation, were also discussed.

Meghan laughed about the attention they’ve received, saying: “Oh my gosh! You’d think I’m a little fairy tossing them around all the time.”

She believes the fascination with the flower sprinkles highlights the desire for small moments of joy in everyday life.

“The obsession that has come with flower sprinkles… of all things we could be talking about… it speaks to the tiny moment of joy that are so effortless and create a little bit of magic we’re all craving every day,” she said.

The event, which included guests such as Ryan Reynolds and Demi Moore, aims to drive global change and amplify inspiring voices.

Meghan expressed her current happiness, saying: “I’m the happiest that I’ve ever been.”

She elaborated: “To have a partner and husband who is so supportive, and to have healthy kids who are so joyful, and in the freeness of their life and the safety of their life we created for them… of all the things that happened I never would have imagined at this point I’d be so happy and free – and I really do.”

The summit signified the duo’s first united public appearance since their attendance at the Invictus Games back in February, with Meghan evidently basking in much to celebrate.
