A former pal of Meghan Markle has revealed all about their past friendship and how it changed after she met Prince Harry.

TV host Nick Ede was once close friends with the Duchess of Sussex, with the pair hanging out while she was on Suits. Nick, who is also a PR expert, helped Meghan navigate her career while she also supported his charity work.

Their bond included lunches, shopping sprees and drinks at Soho House until Meghan’s romance with Harry blossomed, leading to less contact. “Things cooled off,” Nick admitted, adding humorously, “I got the Piers Morgan treatment in the end.”

Morgan himself has famously criticized Meghan for cutting ties with him once she started dating Harry. Despite the distance now between them, Nick had nothing but praise for Meghan, describing her as “authentic and endearing” and someone who truly cared about getting to know people better.

During an appearance on Hello!’s A Right Royal Podcast, Nick shared, “I tell you what is great about Meghan – and didn’t really come across in the TV show – is that she was genuinely interested in people and genuinely wanted to take the time … to learn more about them.”

The PR expert recalled their genuine bond, stating, “I felt that was really authentic and I really liked that about her – there was also a vulnerability and insecurity too. She looked fabulous and gorgeous, but there was a shyness too, which was very endearing.”

Their friendship didn’t fade even as Meghan’s romance with Harry blossomed, with Nick noting how they exchanged a touching text conversation around the time Harry made headlines for defending Meghan from harassment. Meghan’s heartfelt response to the support was, “That really means a lot.”

Reflecting on their connection, he remarked, “Our friendship was generally a good friendship. We’d message and text each other a lot.”

Meanwhile, Meghan’s new Netflix project, With Love, Meghan has stirred up a storm online since its debut, drawing mixed reviews that range from “intimate” to “an ego trip.” The response has been tremendous, ensuring it will return for a second season while earning accolades from none other than Netflix’s co-CEO, Ted Sarandos.

Sarandos spoke out in an interview with Variety, asserting, “I think Meghan is underestimated in terms of her influence on culture. When we dropped the trailer for the ‘Harry and Meghan’ docu-series [in 2022], everything onscreen was dissected in the press for days.”

He concluded with a statement on the couple’s cultural impact, saying, “People are fascinated with [her]. She and Harry are overly dismissed.”
