Meghan Markle posted a message to her Instagram this week saying she is choosing “love” just days after Martha Stewart voiced her displeasure over her own Netflix documentary.
Markle also turned off the comments on the post, preventing followers from leaving responses.
The timing of Markle’s message raised eyebrows, coming shortly after Stewart made headlines for her criticism of the Netflix production “Martha.”
Speaking to The New York Times, Stewart said she was disappointed with how little footage was used, despite granting filmmakers total access to her life.
“R.J. [Cutler] had total access, and he really used very little…it was just shocking,” Stewart said.
While Stewart’s grievances centered around her own documentary, Markle’s Instagram post appeared to be a response to ongoing scrutiny she faces about her public projects.
Though she did not mention Stewart directly, the post’s message about “choosing love” and the decision to disable comments suggested a wish to avoid further controversy.
Stewart, who has previously admitted to kissing a stranger while on her first honeymoon and cheating on her husband of 29 years, has not held back her opinions recently.
She also dismissed the idea of appearing on The Golden Bachelorette, stating she wouldn’t join the show “even if she was paid a significant amount of money per episode.”
Meanwhile, Markle continues to navigate the public eye carefully, with her latest move signaling a preference for positivity amid criticism. By blocking comments, it appears she aimed to keep her message focused and prevent any negative reactions from overshadowing it.
