Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are “in no man’s land” as they navigate “crisis point” while trying to carve out new identities, claims a royal author. It has been a busy year for The Duchess of Sussex as she launched her Netflix series ‘With Love, Meghan’ and dropped her podcast ‘Confessions of a Female Founder’ alongside rolling out her new brand ‘As Ever’.
Royal biographer Mr Vickers told The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson: “I think they’re always at a crisis point, because they’ve left the Royal Family. The Royal Family are working for the United Kingdom commonwealth, whereas they’ve taken the celebrity route which means they have to completely reinvent themselves the whole time to keep in in front of the public.
“They’re always changing direction, therefore they must always be at a crisis point.”
Royal commentator Bronte Coy also described the “twists and turns” the couple have taken. She said there has been “a lot of redirection” for the couple after “deals collapsing”.
She explained: “Meghan’s launching a new business that has had a few twists and turns and snafus and there have been more reports than ever about the state of their relationship both professionally and personally.”
The expert also believed Harry was at a “cross roads” with his career and post Royal Family identity.
She claimed: “I sort of get the impression that Harry would be really happy to just sort of be surfing and doing some charity duties every once in a while but that’s clearly not Megan’s focus and this that in itself is a is a relatively relatable issue.
“When couples reach those points where they’re branching off with different goals for their long term future. Megan wants to be a billionaire celebrity. I think Harry appears to to be happy to just do a few charity engagements and focus on those things that he likes.”
Meghan’s new ventures come as representatives for the Duchess of Sussex have denied that she continues to use the title Her Royal Highness (HRH) after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
The denial comes after a gift card bearing the HRH title was shown in a podcast interview. During the interview, hosted by entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima, a gift basket sent by Meghan was seen on screen. A card on the basket read, “With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex”.
A spokesperson for the Sussexes said that they do not use HRH titles – as reported by the Independent. While no formal legal measures prevent their use, an agreement with the late Queen stipulated that the couple would stop using the word ‘Royal’ following their departure from official duties.
