Prince Harry has been trying to mend fences with the Royal family for over a year before his explosive BBC interview, following his loss in court over his UK security detail.
He’s expressed concerns about his father’s health and is eager to reconnect amidst ongoing familial tensions. A London-based Royal insider close to Charles’ inner circle told the Mirror: “For over a year Harry has been actively reaching out to former friends of his and William from their Eton and London partying days in an effort to open dialogue with King Charles and William. Harry even reached out to several courtiers of Charles and his late mother in an effort to re-establish communication outside of emails.”
The source also insisted that Harry hasn’t been living complacently in his Montecito home with Meghan Markle. Instead, he’s been grappling with the broken reality he found himself in.
In light of his father’s cancer struggles, Harry has been seeking ways to repair the strained relationship. Some of the friends and even Royal aides he contacted have “reached out on his behalf to begin a peace process.”
Moreover, those close to Prince William have been forthright about their reconnection with Harry.
However, the loyalty remains with the royal family who continue to give Harry the cold shoulder. The source added, “That mantra was set down by the late Queen and Harry has definitely gone against that stance since his left senior Royal life and England. Truthfully it may need a miracle for a healing.
But Harry tells people that he ‘hopes with all his heart’ he can reconcile with his father and brother. “At the heart of their anger is the explosive interview Harry and Meghan did with Oprah Winfrey where they alleged the family was “racist.
“According to the insider, the family’s inner circle was “perplexed, disgusted and utterly bewildered,” especially as the claims were made so publicly “without any actual detailed explanation.”
Harry’s tell-all book, Spare, has reportedly deepened the rift between him and his brother, Prince William. The book includes a particularly contentious story that has upset William.”
When Spare recounted a heated argument between the brothers, which allegedly ended with William knocking Harry to the floor, it was seen by many in Royal circles as the final straw for any potential reconciliation.
It effectively terminated not just their brotherly bond, but also their friendship,” an insider revealed. However, Harry’s estrangement from the family doesn’t extend to all members. According to the insider, he has maintained a close relationship with Princess Eugenie, Prince Andrew’s daughter.
“Despite some backlash from friends of Charles and Camilla, she has remained close to Harry,” the source said. Princess Eugenie even attempted to bridge the gap, but “the reality is that the only two who can initiate any kind of compromise are William and Charles. So far, they have remained steadfast in their position.”
In the end, “Harry is insistent that he wants his father, in particular, to know that he loves him dearly and longs to reconnect with him.”
