Anna Nicole Smith’s Daughter Dannielynn Birkhead Wears Mom’s Gown 21 Years Later
Danny Lynn Burkehead is honoring her late mom, Anna Nicole Smith. On May 2nd, the 18-year-old and her dad, Larry Burghhead, kick off the Kentucky Derby weekend with a joint appearance at the 2025 Barnstable Brown Gala with Danny Lynn turning heads in a black floor gown that features crystal straps on the front and the back. In a post on Instagram hours later, Larry reveals that his daughter’s black gown is actually Anna Nicole’s dress that she wore back in 2004, writing, “Danny Lynn is wearing Anna Nicole’s dress that she wore 21 years ago to this same event. Life full circle.” She said she chose the dress because it was her mom’s and quote super cool. And according to People magazine, the teenager, who was just 5 months old when her mom died, could also be heard telling reporters on the red carpet that wearing the dress is quote the closest to a hug I can get from her. Danny Lynn and Larry have been attending the Kentucky Derby every year since the 18-year-old made her debut in 2010 at 3 years old. And over the years, she has found creative ways to honor her mom in her outfits. Back in 2023, the then 16-year-old paid tribute to Anna Nicole by wearing a top featuring photos from the late model’s 1992 guest campaign. That night also served as the 20th anniversary of when Larry and Anicole first met at the Derby.
