Prince George and Prince William were both present on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the VE Commemorations earlier this month, with the future king showing his caring side.

Prince George has an endearing moniker for his dad, Prince William, which he reportedly used over the VE Day weekend. This month marked a significant milestone as the country celebrated 80 years since Victory in Europe Day.
During the VE Day events, throngs of people lined The Mall to catch a glimpse of the Royals and witness an impressive flypast above Buckingham Palace. The aerial spectacle featured both historic and modern aircraft, including the Eurofighter Typhoon and the iconic Red Arrows aerobatic team. Similarly, Royal insiders recently revealed Princess Charlotte’s adorable secret nickname.
The Royal balcony was graced by key family members, their first group appearance following Prince Harry’s heartfelt BBC interview. Future monarchs William and George stood with Princess Kate, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Jeremy Freeman, speaking to The Mirror’s sister brand Edinburgh Live, managed to overhear a tender exchange between George and William during the event. As they observed the ceremony, George nudged his father and said: “Papa, what a sound.” To which William apparently instructed his family to “wave” at the onlookers below.
The commemoration of VE Day offered a glimpse into the special bond between Prince George and his father, Prince William, on more than one occasion. Prior to the evening’s celebrations, the duo attended a veterans’ tea party, where William shared with LBC that George has developed an interest in the welfare of veterans.
Royal expert Emily Nash highlighted to Hello! the significance of this event for the 11 year old prince, who is gradually being groomed for his future role as monarch. Nash observed: “It was a lovely surprise to see Prince George joining the King and Queen and his parents for the veterans tea party at the Palace. “It’s a big moment for him as second-in-line to the throne and one he will remember for many years to come.

“Both William and Catherine have spoken about their desire to teach their children about major moments in history, such the Holocaust, so this is another way for them to connect that wartime generation with their own next generation.”
Beyond their official engagements, William and George have been spotted enjoying quality time together at more casual events, including an Aston Villa football match against PSG in the Champions League. William emphasized the importance of sharing such experiences with his son.
He confessed: “You know what, it’s been 43 years since anything like this has happened in my generation as a Villa fan, and I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition.”
Emphasizing the importance of such experiences, he added, “I hope it’s not 43 years until the next one happens, but I think those memories are really important to create and bringing him along tonight is a big deal for me.”
