Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been estranged from the royal family since they quit their roles in 2020 – but prior to that there was a fall-out over an Easter faux pas, which Harry detailed in his tell-all book, Spare

Prince Harry has given fans a glimpse into a past disagreement with Prince William, whose new TV appearance has been labeled as “disgraceful,” and Princess Kate during Easter before his separation from the Royal family.
Currently, Harry – who a lip reader recently claimed mocked a royal family member during a family event – is back in the UK for his ongoing security court case. However, he didn’t get to see his father, the King, before departing for Italy, and it’s unlikely that he’ll meet up with the Waleses either, even though his nephews and niece – George, Louis, and Charlotte – are on their school holidays.
Since the Sussexes’ shocking decision to step down from Royal duties in January 2020, Harry and Meghan – who appeared to take a telling eight-word swipe at the royal family in her Netflix show – have publicly criticized the royals multiple times, from their revealing Oprah interview to Harry’s explosive revelations in his memoir, Spare.

In the latter, he discusses a rift between William and Kate over an Easter incident. He remembered a day in June 2018 when he and Meghan invited Kate and William to Nottingham Cottage for tea, aiming to understand why Kate and Meghan had “got off on the wrong foot.”

Harry wrote: “For 10 minutes, we did the classic small talk. How are the kids? How was your honeymoon?
“Meg then acknowledged the tension among the four of us and ventured that it might go back to those early days when she’d first joined the family – a misunderstanding that had almost passed without notice. Kate thought Meg had wanted her fashion contacts. But Meg had her own,” Harry further noted.
He remarked: “They’d got off on the wrong foot perhaps? And then, Meg added, everything got magnified by the wedding, and those infernal bridesmaids’ dresses.”
There was an additional grievance concerning Prince William and Kate. Harry reveals a lack of Easter gifts that particular year seemed to have left quite a sting with the couple, reports the Mirror.
“But it turned out there were other things… about which we’d been unaware. Willy and Kate were apparently upset that we hadn’t given them Easter presents,” Harry says.
“Easter presents? Was that a thing? Willy and I had never exchanged Easter presents. Pa always made a big deal about Easter, sure, but that was Pa. Still, if Willy and Kate were upset, we apologized.
“On our side, we expressed our irritation when Willy and Kate decided to switch place cards and swap seats at our wedding reception. We adhered to the American custom of seating couples together, but Willy and Kate weren’t fans of this arrangement, resulting in their table being the lone one where partners were separated.”
The rift between Harry and his family has seemingly grown more pronounced. It’s believed he has now gone without seeing his father, King Charles, in person for 14 months – even though they were only miles away from each other just this week.
Harry, at the age of 40, landed at London Heathrow on Sunday, whereas Charles, aged 76, was in the city receiving postponed cancer treatment before his planned journey to Italy. Nonetheless, the two did not meet up.
The Duke arrived in London for a court meeting at the Royal Courts of Justice in another attempt to overturn the decision to strip him of his UK security details.

It’s his final gamble to secure state-backed protection for himself and his family when they spend time in Britain—a privilege he lost when he stepped down from his Royal duties.
Last February, Harry took a major legal hit, with Mr Justice Lane tossing out his case against the Home Office and declaring that the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec) hadn’t acted out of line.
Yet, his lawyer, Shaheed Fatima KC, is now pitching the argument that “he has been singled out for different, unjustified and inferior treatment.”
She also claimed that Harry and Meghan felt compelled to ditch their royal roles because “they considered they were not being protected by the institution.”
