Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has made a name for herself as a lover of personal touches. Ever since she married Prince Harry in 2018, the world has been slowly but surely introduced to her singular way of connecting with the people in her life in thoughtful ways. Like her love of a handwritten note, for example. Markle absolutely delighted an American Airlines flight attendant recently when she left a handwritten note after a commercial flight. Those calligraphy lessons have clearly really served her well.
Flight attendant Nina Vida recently took to TikTok to share that she had spotted Markle on a flight, confirming that the mom of two is “so beautiful in person” and “so sweet.” They liked her so much, in fact, that they decided to write her a note saying “it’s a pleasure of serving you, we love you real bad.” The big surprise came when Markle responded with her own handwritten note on a napkin, which read, “Dear AA girlies, thank you for the love, hospitality and handwritten note—you know me well. All love right back to you. As ever, Meghan.” While Vida did not take a photo, she did share the note in the video, going on to explain that the handwriting was “giving rich, it’s giving expensive, it’s giving princess.”
Markle’s beautiful handwriting has almost become her calling card, and it makes total sense. She worked as a part-time calligrapher prior to her time on Suits and as a member of the royal family, teaching calligraphy and even writing wedding invitations for customers from 2004-2005. “I think handwritten notes are a lost art form,” Markle once wrote on her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig. “The idea of someone taking the time to put pen to paper is really special.” It probably helps that Markle’s handwriting looks like a work of art.
Fans of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan were treated to witnessing her writing sweet notes to her houseguests with her delicate penmanship, and of course she used her skills to create the logo for her sold out home goods line, As Ever.
Markle’s love of handwritten notes is very much in keeping with her fondness of showing affection through personal touches. Whether that means she is making homemade beeswax candles for friends or adding beautiful flower sprinkles to pretty much anything she can get her hands on, everything she does has that special Markle touch.
