News of a growing Royal Family is always welcome, and this time it’s Prince William and Princess Kate that are adding to their household.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, who first met whilst both studying at St Andrew’s University, have three children together. Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

Whilst the family of five doesn’t appear to be adding any more royal prince or princesses into the mix, they have grown their family with the addition of several adorable puppies via their family dog Orla. Their beloved black Cocker Spaniel has given birth to four puppies, which have ‘delighted’ the three young royals.

The happy news was revealed by an inside source to The Sun, as they told the outlet, “Mother and babies are doing well.” The insider added: “We always thought the patter of tiny feet in the Wales’s household had ended, so the sound of tiny paws will have to do.”

It hasn’t been confirmed yet whether the four puppies will remain in Kate and William’s family, but the family are said to already be in love. The source continued: “Everyone loves a new royal baby news and so new royal puppies run very close. Everyone is very excited, not least the three children, who adored Orla, and Lupo before.”

Orla, the family’s black cocker spaniel, was a gift from Kate’s brother James Middleton. He also bred Kate and William’s previous dog Lupo and Orla’s parents. Unlike corgis and some of the more famous pooches of the Royal Family, Orla is often out of the spotlight, preferring a quieter life.

Last year Kate and William posted a photo of Orla online for National Pet Day, as they captioned the snap: “Celebrating the animals who bring so much joy, companionship and love to our lives.”

The dog has also featured in some of the famous royal photographs, including Princess Charlotte’s birthday pictures in 2022.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ love of dogs is one shared by the Royal Family, with Queen Camilla recently adopting a rescue puppy Moley. The King also owns an Italian truggle hunting dog named Snuff.

The late Queen Elizabeth II was well known for her love of four-legged pals, owning many corgis in her time on the throne.
