The Princess of Wales is renowned for her impeccably flawless fashion taste and is celebrated around the globe for her contributions to the industry. While she generally favours classic and timeless styles over fleeting fashion trends, it comes as no surprise that the royal is rocking one of the biggest crazes of the year.
Princess Kate, 43, recently stepped out at the Buckingham Palace garden party in a striking butter yellow Emilia Wickstead design. The shade is a prominent and popular trend this SS season and has been spotted on runways, red carpets, and the high street.
The soft, creamy blend features rich golden tones and offers a sophisticated yet playful alternative to pastels.

Yellow diamonds

Jewellery expert Ella Citron-Thompkins from Diamonds Factory has shared her top five styling tips for embracing the butter-yellow aesthetic with timeless jewellery pieces, ensuring you keep up with Kate’s chic and polished look.
The expert shared, “Butter yellow is the perfect way to add a fresh yet refined pop of colour to your jewellery collection.”
“Yellow diamonds, with their radiant hue, offer a sophisticated twist on traditional diamonds, she added.
They are also considered rare. Thompkins continued, “Unlike their colourless counterparts, yellow diamonds are eye-catching yet elegant, making them the perfect piece to embrace this season’s trend.”
Statement pieces

From engagement rings, wedding bands, earrings, bracelets to necklaces – you name it. Yellow diamonds are a perfect fit for any statement jewellery piece.
Although, it is worth noting that while they are undeniably stunning, it’s important “not to go overboard.”
Citron-Thompkins explained, “Unlike other gemstones, too much yellow can overpower the aesthetic and distract from its beauty. Instead, opt for a statement piece, such as a solitaire necklace or a halo pendant, and pair it with a neutral outfit to let the jewellery take centre stage. The key is to let the jewellery shine without overwhelming the overall look.”
Soft, neutral tones
Hoop earrings are another huge hit this season, with the likes of Princess Kate, Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie often wearing the staple.
While hoops and butter yellow diamonds may not be a common combination, they create a statement accessory, as they highlight “soft, neutral colours”.
“Shades like ivory, soft beige, and blush pink work wonderfully with yellow diamonds, allowing the jewellery to pop without competing with your outfit. This ensures that your yellow diamonds remain the focal point of your look, adding that chic and subtle touch of colour,” shared the expert.
Modern twist

The goldsmith also claimed that you should not be afraid to mix metals. Yellow gemstones are often paired with gold, but they go just as well with the likes of silver and rose gold.
“Combining yellow diamonds with rose gold can add depth and contrast, giving your jewellery a modern and fresh feel. Silvery tones, like those found in platinum, white gold, and silver, lend a timeless, sophisticated touch.
“For instance, a yellow-diamond half-eternity ring in platinum or white gold brings a classic elegance to the contemporary butter yellow trend, creating a piece that can be cherished and passed down through generations.”
Timeless, versatile designs

While butter yellow may be a huge trend this season, they never truly go out, as they are classic and timeless that have stood the test of time.
“Pieces like yellow-diamond stud earrings, a delicate yellow-diamond bracelet, or a chic engagement ring with subtle yellow-diamond accents are perfect for embracing this trend in a way that feels effortless and sophisticated,” claimed Citron-Thompkins.
Before adding: “These pieces can easily transition from day to night, making them versatile additions to any jewellery collection.”
