Off The Record – Interviews With the Cast and Scenes From the Movie

Rainey Quali stars in Off the Record, a music industry drama about a young singer whose whirlwind romance with a fallen rock star spirals into a battle for creative and personal freedom. You should absolutely say yes. He’s Brandon Burge and he’s got a lot of great connections. Dude, I don’t know. It just seems crazy. It’s a a mixture of my own personal experiences. Um, I also, you know, moved to Los Angeles with a big dream. So, I really wanted to tell this story of a woman, you know, trying to live her dream and all of the extra hoops that get it put in front of her. When I first read the script, I was so excited to be involved in the project because outside of acting, I also have a music career and so I was really looking forward to having the chance to bring those worlds together. What are you doing tomorrow? I don’t know what’s happening. and he’s intelligent and he’s really sexy and he believes in me. Brandon Burge thinks that I’m the real deal. Rainey of course has, you know, a music career that is already started and she’s got stuff out there. You know, the story it it kind of mirrors her own experience as well. So, you know, talking about where this movie comes from, a lot of Aster came from Rainey. Even, you know, uh her best friend is played by her real life best friend. I really relate to Noel because Rainey and I are best friends. So, it’s very easy for me to tap into that because it just felt like who we are already. Oh, I don’t know. He’s just he’s he’s been drinking. He’s asking for a ride. Oh god. Terrible driver. Come on. Go. Oh my god. Fine. Whatever. I’m going to get an Uber. All right. Suit yourself. I wanted to show, you know, that the women in her life that support her, like, they don’t stop supporting her because she makes a bad choice. Um, you know, I’ve always really loved movies about flawed characters. Like, I don’t think our protagonists have to be perfect for us to root for them. I feel like I’m quite honest in my real life with my friends and how I feel about certain things. So, yeah, it was definitely really easy for me to tap into like here’s a mirror sort of friend where I want them to see their worth and, you know, um, be there for them. It’s an evergreen story. Older powerful dude dangles a woman’s dreams in front of her. get to see me. I hope that people feel, especially women, but but everyone feel empowered um and feel like they can trust their gut and stand up for themselves. There was a lot of other stories to borrow from. So, it’s not all my personal experience, but you know, I think a lot of other women are going to be able to see their experiences in it. I promise you won’t be sorry.
