Mountbatten-Windsor is avaliable to all descendants of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
The surname combines the Royal Family’s name of Windsor and the late Duke’s adopted surname of Mountbatten. In a poll conducted by the Express from June 2-3, 2,992 readers answered whether they think Harry should be allowed to change his surname.
In the surprising results a majority of 52 percent [1,564 votes] voted Harry should be allowed to go ahead with a surname change for both himself and his family.
Meanwhile, 43 percent [1,281 votes] said that he shouldn’t be allowed to change his name. Five percent [147 votes] shared that they are unsure what Harry should be allowed to do.
Taking to the comment section, one fan commented: “Name change and a permanent FO. Won’t be missed!”
A second fan commented: “Sounds like [Harry] really does was to distance himself from the British Royal Family.”
Clearly having voted ‘yes’, another fan commented: “Good idea. Send him a deed poll someone.”
