Prince William and Kate Middleton were shocked when Prince Harry revealed his budding romance with Meghan Markle.
Harry revealed he proudly announced, “[I have a] new woman in my life,” but his brother and sister-in-law were confused. In his explosive memoir Spare, Harry shared details of the moment he disclosed his relationship status during a dinner, noting that William and Kate had sensed “something was going on.”
The summer of 2016 marked the beginning of Harry’s relationship with Meghan, with their first date happening in London. Harry’s announcement piqued William and Kate’s curiosity, leading them to probe, “Who is she?”

Harry described their astonishment as he informed William and Kate, “She’s an actress. ‘Oh?’ She’s American. ‘Oh.’ On a show called Suits.”

William’s reaction was to jokingly tell his brother, “‘[Explicit] off?'” Harry expressed how William was “baffled” by the news, mentioning that William and Kate were avid — almost devout — watchers of Suits, the legal drama featuring Meghan as Rachel Zane.
Meghan starred in the series for seven seasons as the savvy paralegal. Harry was taken aback, realizing, “All this time I’d thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry about them hounding her for an autograph.”
After a whirlwind romance of just over a year, Harry proposed to Meghan, and the pair married at Windsor in May 2018. The couple later became parents to their son, Prince Archie, who is now six years old, before relocating to the U.S. after resigning as senior working royals.

In June 2021, Meghan and Harry expanded their family with the arrival of their daughter, Princess Lilibet. She’s currently celebrating her fourth birthday.
To mark the special day, Meghan shared some adorable never-seen-before snaps of Lilibet. Taking to Instagram, the Duchess of Sussex posted two candid black and white images featuring her daughter.
In one, Meghan is seen embracing the youngster on a recent boat outing, while the other captured an intimate moment with Lilibet when she was still a baby.
Accompanying the pictures, Meghan shared an emotional caption, “Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives – and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!”
