Who are the British & Irish Lions’ biggest real celebrity fans?

And we don’t mean some Hollywood star who got handed a jersey in a promo photo op.

We’re talking proper fans – the kind who belt out the anthem in the stands, lose their voice shouting at the telly, and live and breathe Lions rugby. So, who’s roaring the loudest in the celeb world?

    #5. Prince William (Royalty)

The future King of Britain attended the tour of New Zealand in 2005, and cheered on the squad in all three tests.

William, who is second in line to the throne, met Will Greenwood, Brian O’Driscoll, Gareth Thomas and Gordon Bulloch – representatives for each of the four Lions international teams – in the lobby of the squad’s hotel in Wellington.

    #4. Henry Cavill (Actor)

Best known for playing Superman, Cavill is a season ticket holder at Championship side Jersey. He’s well known to be a rugby nut, and cheered on the Lions as they beat the All Blacks in the second test of the 2017 series.

    #3. Ronan Keating (Singer)

Watching the Lions play on tour was a tick off the bucket list for Boyzone star Keating, who was in New Zealand in 2017. He even sang a duet with Julian Savea during an eventful trip.

    #2. David Beckham (Footballer)

“I love rugby,” Beckham told the Radio Times in the run-up to the 2017 Lions tour. “I love watching it and I love the whole thing.

I have enjoyed going to Twickenham more than I have enjoyed watching football I’d love to go on a Lions tour one day, but it’s tough with my current commitments.”

    #1. Daniel Craig (Actor)

Best known for playing James Bond, the 52-year-old can often be seen at Twickenham cheering on England. He was a high-profile attendee of the last two Lions tours in 2013 and 2017.

Before that, he sent 12 magnums of Bollinger Champagne and a note signed by him to congratulate the side on beating South Africa in 2009.

    British & Irish Lions WAG’s

Here’s a look at some of the partners of the England, Irish and Scottish stars likely to be packing their passports — and maybe a Lions bucket hat or two…

    Scotland:

Nika van der Merwe – Married to the Big Man (Duhan van der Merwe)

Nika and powerhouse wing Duhan van der Merwe tied the knot in sunny South Africa back in January 2023. She turned heads in a chic fitted gown with a thigh-high split, topped off with a glam studded cape — a wedding as bold as Duhan’s sidestep.

Emma Canning – Heptathlete and Super Mum (Finn Russell)

It hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Emma and magician-in-boots Finn Russell, but the pair are back stronger than ever and now proud parents to two daughters: Charlie and Skye.

Emma knows the pressure of elite sport first-hand — she’s a heptathlete, battling across seven gruelling events. Now she balances it all with family life and Finn’s erratic brilliance.

Annabel Jones – Puppy Love and Ibiza Vibes (Huw Jones)

Huw Jones and Annabel said “I do” in Ibiza back in July 2022 after meeting in Glasgow. Huw’s not afraid to show his romantic side, often calling Annabel his “everything.”

When an injury sidelined him during the 2019 Six Nations, she bought him a fluffy Maltese poodle named Louis — his furry lockdown lifesaver.

Dina Celina – Nutrition Queen and Future Mrs Kinghorn (Blair Kinghorn)

Blair Kinghorn popped the question to nutritionist Dina during a dreamy weekend at Gleneagles in 2023 — wedding bells will ring this August after the tour wraps.

The couple made an appearance in Six Nations: Full Contact on Netflix, with viewers spotting Blair stepping in at fly-half when Finn Russell was sidelined. Dina’s backstage support? Rock solid.
