Prince William has shared never-before-seen pictures from an under-the-radar visit and released a surprise message. It has emerged that the Prince of Wales paid a secret visit to the Deidre Knight Centre, an adult day care centre in Forfar, Scotland, two months ago while on a trip to nearby Aberdeen.

There, he met Christina Charlton as well as others including carers and support workers, providing support for those with a physical or mental disability or social isolation. And today, his official social media accounts shared pictures of the visit and him meeting Christina, after she marked her 100th birthday yesterday. The sweet snaps show William and Christina sharing a joke with the now-centenarian placing her hands on the princes.

In a surprise message to mark her birthday, the snaps were accompanied by the words: “It was a pleasure meeting Christina Charlton during a recent visit to the Deidre Knight Centre in Forfar, Angus. Yesterday she celebrated her 100th birthday! We hope you had a wonderful day!

“Thank you to the incredible carers and support workers whose compassion and dedication creates such a warm, supportive community at Deidre Knight.”

The heartwarming pictures and video comes as William and wife Kate recently returned from another trip to Scotland, where they spent their 14th wedding anniversary on the Isle of Mull.

The royal couple were cheered when they arrived on the island for the two-day visit on Tuesday where they showed off their creative and DIY skills by helping to renovate Aros Hall, a community-owned space in the picturesque coastal town of Tobermory.

Kate debuted a new hair colouring with her balayage look – chestnut-coloured locks with highlights – and was dressed in a tweed jacket, jeans and hiking boots, with William sporting a similar smart casual look.

During the visit, Kate also revealed she has taken up beekeeping and received a chainsaw for Christmas as she immersed herself in nature to recover from cancer. Kate, who has previously told how nature became her family’s ‘sanctuary’ after her diagnosis and during chemotherapy last year, told a local beekeeper how she was “desperate for any tips” for her new hobby.

On the second day of the visit, Kate spoke of the need for children to “get outdoors as much as they can” on the second day of a visit to a remote forest on the Isle of Mull. Together with William, they spent the morning of their second day in Scotland immersed in the sun-bathed Ardura Community Forest on the south of the island, a haven for local families, which has been bought for local people.

As they left the island, both spoke of the “fantastic” time they had on Mull as they boarded a ferry to Iona at the end of their visit. As the couple walked down to the ferry, a crew member asked whether they had enjoyed their time on Mull.

William replied: “It’s been fantastic, thanks”, adding that the good weather the couple have enjoyed throughout their stay “obviously helps”.
