Meghan Markle has been accused of “piggybacking” off other people’s success by a marketing expert this week. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, has just finished the first series of her podcast series Confessions of A Female Founder, with it not yet known whether a second series is in the works.

While Meghan has sat down with a number of impressive female business founders for her podcast, including Beyonce’s mum Tina Knowles, marketing expert Nick Ede believes that interviewing famous celebrities will not be enough to save her brand. While Mr Ede thinks speaking with other female founders in her podcast was “kind of a good idea”, the expert told The Sun that this isn’t enough to guarantee her success.

This is because Meghan’s own brand As Ever has only launched one batch of products, and “hasn’t really gone particularly far”, with Mr Ede saying that Meghan has instead been “piggybacking off other people’s success”.

He told The Sun: “Meghan obviously is trying really hard to establish herself in a big way, and associating herself with other female founders, was kind of a good idea, because it went well with the As Ever brand, and how that was developing.

“But the issue is that actually the As Ever brand hasn’t really gone particularly far, so she can’t really say that she’s a particularly great female founder.”

He added that while she has interviewed some “brilliant people” like Spanx founder Sarah Blakely, Meghan’s As Ever isn’t recognised around the world in the same way just yet.

He fumed: “Meghan is great at piggybacking off other people’s success.”

While As Ever seems to have gone quiet over the last few months, it was confirmed earlier this week that a restock is on the way this month.

A post on the brand’s Instagram page read: “To all who’ve been wondering and waiting, thank you!

“Your favorites are returning, plus a few NEW things we can’t wait to show you. Coming this month…get excited!”
