When it comes to the ongoing royal rift between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the royal family—namely King Charles and Prince William—the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are apparently approaching the issue in two different ways.
A source told People for its recent cover story that, in the outlet’s words, “Meghan is focused on the future, while Harry has one foot in the past.” Meghan, it seems, is “very business” about the ongoing tensions, as the couple is “aware of everything going on in England, but they’re being left out of the details—there’s clearly no trust,” the insider said.

Meghan “stands firmly by Harry’s side,” People reported, though the As Ever founder “wishes her husband could feel less burdened by the past and more present in the life they’ve built together.”
Harry has publicly voiced his desire for reconciliation between himself and his family, most recently in a May 2 interview with the BBC. But the King and the Prince of Wales aren’t currently speaking to Harry, and “the underlying issue is trust,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People. “The King and William don’t trust Harry and Meghan with any kind of confidential information.”
