PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (7News) — Three officers were injured early Monday morning when a semi-truck crashed into their vehicles during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 South in Dumfries, according to Prince William County police.

    Police said the crash happened around midnight near Dumfries Road andJoplin Road. Police said the officers were conducting a traffic stop when a semi-truck struck their cruisers.

    All three officers were taken to the hospital, but they are expected to recover.

    As of 6:39 a.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) said the left and center lanes had reopened, and motorists can expect delays.

    Police have not said whether the driver of the truck will face charges.

    Virginia State Police told 7News they assisted in the investigation.

    The crash remains under investigation.
