Among those formally made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire was the acclaimed actress Anne-Marie Duff. The Shameless star told PA news agency that she and HRH had laughed about her previous role playing Elizabeth I, in the BBC dramatisation of the monarch’s life, The Virgin Queen.

Adding a touch of glamour to the occasion in a purple tweed ensemble and Chanel sling backs was the fashion house’s global CEO, Leena Nair, recognised for her contributions to the retail and consumer sector. She joined Everton F.C. manager David Moyes (formerly of West Ham United), and Dawn Astle, founder of The Jeff Astle Foundation.

Astle’s commendation, recognising her advocacy for footballers with dementia, marks a poignant cause. Her foundation, named in honour of her late father, raises awareness around brain injuries in sport.

Taking to Instagram to note the occasion, Prince William’s office shared a gallery of the recipients. Accompanying the post, the official account penned, ‘Congratulations to all those receiving honours at Windsor today. Your hard work, dedication, and service have truly set you apart. This recognition is a testament to the difference you’ve made. Well done!’

The Prince will return to centre stage this weekend at Trooping the Colour. The official celebration of King Charles III’s birthday takes place on Saturday, 14 June. Organised by the Household Division of the British Army, the military parade is both a ceremonial milestone and a royal reunion, with nearly all senior family members expected to appear on the fabled balcony.
