As a mom, mementos from our children are more precious than the Crown jewels. Yes, even if you are royalty yourself! Kate Middleton seems to agree, as she just revealed one major part of her kids’ childhoods that she continues to treasure even as they grow up. And as a mom (and a huge royal fan!) myself, it’s definitely not surprising.

The Princess of Wales went on a tour of Corgi in South Wales on Thursday, which is a family-run business that specializes in handmade socks and knitwear. While looking at the behind-the-scenes work at the factory, the mom of three revealed that she has “archived” all of her kids’ clothes, per Hello! Magazine.

We knew it! My attic is practically my own personal museum of my kids’ clothes that I’ve saved over the years, so I get it. Plus, the number of times we’ve seen Princess Charlotte re-wearing fabulous coats and other outfits, it makes sense that these clothes are saved and well-preserved.

Middleton, who shares daughter Princess Charlotte, 9, and sons Prince Louis, 6, and Prince George, 11, with husband Prince William, also commented on the value of fine craftsmanship. During the visit, Middleton noted that she has always noticed well-made garments always “wore really well” on her kids compared to other types of clothes. “It’s so lovely to reuse the things that are well made,” Middleton added. We love a sustainability princess!

Another benefit of keeping your kids’ clothes? You can lend them out or gift them to others who have babies after you.

In September, Middleton’s brother James Middleton revealed that the royal (and their other sister Pippa Middleton) gave his now 1-year-old son Inigo hand-me-downs from their kids.

“[The clothes] are milestones, because [my sisters] remember when their child was wearing something, and how old they were – it takes them back,” James told Hello! “It’s been a lovely thing for them.”

He also shared how his baby views his royal cousins. “He’s fortunate to have older cousins who can now pick him up and show him things, and as he grows up, they’ll be able to look out for him,” James said. “There’s definitely an element of curiosity [about] a baby that they have.”

If you have bins of your baby’s clothes that you’re still holding onto, don’t feel bad. Just think of it as “archiving” the clothes like the royals!
