We’ll have to see how the next 4 years pan out. But I am cautiously optimistic that the Republican party will struggle to find someone as “appealing” to their party as Trump. I definitely don’t see it for JD Vance

Typical dem: “I’m okay with slaughtering Palestinians and I put an anti-Elon sticker on my piece of shit Tesla. Just get this Orange Guy out of my retirement portfolio.”

Not to get too nerdy in a celebrity gossip sub, but this view of Klingons feels really xenophobic considering Star Trek VI, Worf in general, and how important the Klingon Empire was in later half of DS9.

  4. If you think this ends with Trump then the world is fucked for the next decade or more. Trump is not the cause, he is a symptom.

We need some constitutional amendments minimum

We need a remedy beyond impeachment

And the presidents powers need to be looked at, it’s clearly too much

This is such a stupid take OMG. No. This does not end with trump. TRUMP IS A SYMPTOM NOT THE CAUSE.

  7. The cult cannot continue without Trump. There is no one who can carry it because it is built around him

  8. not really. he acts like Trump is the only person causing this.

he’s not. there’s tons of “Klingons”

George I love you but we got Trump out once and our democracy wasn’t saved because he came back again.

It’s insane to me how people just. Forget he was president once. He did this before. And it was bad. Fookin’ ‘ell.

  10. He has a point. MAGA is currently imploding. Many centrists (like myself) are turning against Trump if they havent already (i stopped my support after january 6th). Some republican voters are also sick of MAGA and are turning on Trump.

People want a return to some sense of normalcy. MAGA does not represent that. When election time comes whos going to run on the Republican ticket: all the MAGA minions who want to inherit the movement.

If the Democrats put someone up who can represent a return to normalcy and common sense and people turn up to vote, the Dems win the next election easily.

In general, if the Democrats get the lightbulb to click and they realize a lot of young people really like Democratic socialists like Bernie, AOC, and recently Mamdani, they could do a lot of good.

  11. How can he so fundamentally misunderstand authoritarianism and Star Trek despite starring in one and being raised in the other?

I would take President Worf over Trump anyway. I would take President Camacho over Trump.

An out of touch lib elite take. Foreign policy is uniparty. Not only that, but how the opposition party acts during what you call “fascism” matters. The Democratic Party are an extremely weak party, and do nothing in terms of opposition to fight the current administration. They actualy work harder to shut up the progressive voices who have a tangible plan to do so. Look what they did to David Hogg and look how they’re allowing SuperPACs to screw over Zohran. Terrible take from George Takei. He just likes what America does when the President has a blue D next to their name.

  14. Wow, so Takei is a sci-fi racist. He is a Star Trek boomer… Lieutenant Worf was my favorite alongside Data. Also, it serves no good purpose to dehumanize Trump. He is 100% human, and humans are 100% capable of being that bad. To dehumanize him to is blind ourselves to the coming of the next one.
