Last year, the Princess of Wales shocked the world after she revealed that she was in the early stages of treatment after being diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer. Kensington Palace seemed confident that Kate Middleton would make a full recovery, and even she claimed that she was getting stronger day by day.

Now, an insider has opened up about the severity of Kate Middleton’s diagnosis and how it has been affecting her life, keeping her away from public appearances. Amid fresh fears for her health, the insider believes that she is lucky that she even gets to talk about recovering.

After treatment, Kate Middleton announced that she was officially cancer-free thanks to preventative chemotherapy. Anyone who knows the dire effect chemotherapy can have on a person knows that recovery is not a piece of cake. It takes a toll on both your mental and physical health.

Nine months after Middleton completed her treatment, a source told Radar Online that her physical recovery was a “work in progress.” While she slowly began dipping her toes back into royal duties, she now has to take a step back once again.

Middleton and Prince William were supposed to make an appearance at the Royal Ascot on June 18, but she had to cancel her attendance at the last minute. Meanwhile, her husband presented the trophy to the winner of the Prince of Wales’ Stakes.

Needless to say, the abrupt cancellation of plans had people concerned about her well-being, and now, a royal expert has confirmed that Middleton is going through a lot. They said, “I can say that, from what I understand, she is fortunate to even be speaking of recovery.”

Another source close to the royal family stated,

On some levels, I actually think this is a good reminder that she was really seriously ill last year and underwent a significant period of chemo. As anyone who has been through that experience will tell you, you can feel very unwell for a long time afterwards. It can take years (to recover).

This is a sobering reality that while everyone’s favorite royal may be cancer-free, her journey to complete health is far from over. Luckily, she has her husband by her side.

As her health problems deny her a complete return to her royal duties, Middleton is most likely to stick with a few, despite the concerns around her recovery.

For starters, her usual Wimbledon appearances will most probably not be affected, as it is her duty to represent the royal family at major sporting events. Moreover, early next month, the Princess of Wales may attend a meet and greet for a French state visit at Windsor Castle.

Insiders have claimed that Middleton is going to take it easy during the recovery period, making no more than just three public appearances in the coming months. They said, “Kate will take it much easier for the rest of the year. I’d be surprised if you see her more than three times in the next three months.”

While Middleton navigates through the post-cancer life, there is one pillar of support in her life who is always by her side – her husband. With everything that has been going on in her life, including the diagnosis, Prince William is apparently fighting tooth and nail to make sure she recovers properly.

    The insider said,

The last few years have been horrific; the disgusting things that Harry said about her and William and her family, the relentless speculation about her and William, the queen’s death, the king’s diagnosis which had them both thinking they were going to have to take over and then her own cancer diagnosis and treatment. It’s all taken its toll, and if she needs more time to recover, William will fight tooth and nail to see she is given it.

Being a royal is not easy. With so much weight placed on their shoulders, the Prince and Princess of Wales are now prioritizing what truly matters: health, healing, and family. As Middleton continues to walk on the path toward full recovery, one thing that is certain is that she won’t be alone.
