Naming a baby isn’t easy – especially if your due date is drawing near and you’re feeling under pressure. Thankfully, there are name sites dedicated to this exact conundrum to help parents make the right choice.

But before you pick anything, did you know there are names that could be dying out in popularity – and very soon? Each year, BabyCenter highlights the most popular baby names, but what about the names that aren’t so trendy?

Looking at names which have dropped off within the last year, they spotted the beginning of the end for “-aden” boy names like Jaden and Kaden. They also noted that royal names have taken a step back.

In their research, they said: “Catherine, Anne, Phillip, Albert, and Edward – all names of British royal family members in recent history – each tumbled more than 100 spots. Catherine took the biggest fall, though, dropping 221 spots.”

The naming experts further share that 80s and 90s names are falling off the charts with ‘nickname’ names instead growing in popularity. This refers to names such as Lexi, for Alexandra, and Archie for Archibald – son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
