Heads of State Movie Review by Tavishi Paitandy I Priyanka Chopra I John Cena I Idris Elba I Podcast
[Music] What do you get when the president of United States and the prime minister of the UK crash land in hostile territory? Add a hotshot MI6 agent played by Priyanka Chopra. Mix in action, comedy and chaos and you have got Heads of State. Heads of State is a globe trottting action comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously and that is its strength. The plot kicks off at Spain’s Wild Tomatina Festival where a secret mission goes south and next thing you know the US president played by John Senna and the UK prime minister played by Idrris Alba are stranded behind enemy lines. With a crucial NATO summit looming and assassins hot on their trail, the world thinks they are dead. Enter Priyanka Chopra as Noel Bisay, a top tier MI16 agent, presumed dead, courtesy, the Spain debacle. But she makes a heroic return and steals the show. The film opens with a bang. Priyanka lights up the screen in a slick action setpiece and later returns to remind you why she’s at home in this genre. From dawn to Citadel, she knows how to handle the stunts and the screen time. The mid-air fights, the presidential limo showdown, and the high-tech close combat sequences are fast, stylish, and well executed. The banter between Senna and Elba takes a moment to settle, but once it does, it clicks. Senna is loud, brash, and goofy, while Elba plays it straight with that signature drive it. It’s a fun, odd couple energy. That said, not every joke lands. The comedy is hit or miss. Some punchlines work while others feel like fillers. And while the premise had room for juicy satire, the political commentary is barely there. It plays it safe. No real digs, no deeper dives. Also for Priyanka fans, a heads up. Her screen time dips in the middle, but she bounces back strong with some killer lines and killer moves. Priyanka Chopra is perfectly cast, stylish, skilled and commanding. It’s refreshing to see a South Asian woman head a Hollywood spy caper not just as backup but as the game changer. John Senna brings his usual self-aware humor and big physical comedy while Idrris Alba holds the line with cool precision. Together they make for an unlikely but watchable duo. So, is Heads of State Perfect? Not quite. But is it fun? Absolutely. So, it’s glossy, fast-paced, packed with action, and powered by star charisma. If you’re in a mood for a popcorn flick with international flare and few good laughs, this one delivers. Just don’t expect too much depth with your diplomacy. Heads of State is action, attitude, and a surprise savior in Priyanka Chopra. Give it a watch and maybe buckle up first. [Music] [Applause] [Music]
