Rumors connecting Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton circulated the internet at one point. These rumors surfaced around the time of Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s marriage in 2011. Both Harry and Pippa were newly single at the time of the royal wedding. They were seen together quite a few times, sparking rumors of another Mountbatten-Windsor alliance.
In May that year, they were seen at a London pub together. A source reportedly told OK! Magazine at the time, “Kate went to check her makeup and found them snogging in the bathroom! They’re trying to play it coy, but there’s no doubt that this is developing into something serious. They’re truly sweet together and, in fact, seem very much in love.”
So, what was the deal between the Duke of Sussex and the Middleton sister? The rumor had no truth in it. In fact, the Daily Mail reported that Prince Harry himself denied the rumor and shared that he was single.
The outlet reported that he was seen getting cozy with an American woman in the Live Nation VIP tent when he attended the Hard Rock Calling concert a month after the rumors. He also reportedly confessed to his VIP friends that he wasn’t involved with Pippa Middleton.
He allegedly told fellow concertgoers, “Pippa? Ha! No, I am not seeing anyone at the moment. I’m 100 percent single.” He also added, “I’m working a lot at the moment, so dating and watching TV are the last things I have time for.” He also talked to them about his vacation plans that year.
Interestingly, Pippa Middleton was married to her financier husband, James Matthews, in 2017. Harry got married a year later to Meghan Markle, but it wasn’t before a whole drama at Pippa’s wedding.

Prince Harry brought a date to Pippa Middleton’s wedding in 2017, evading the eagle eyes of the British media. It was none other than his future wife, and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. In his 2023 memoir Spare, Harry opened up about the drama caused at the wedding that strained his and Markle’s relationship with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Harry shared his side of the events, sharing that Middleton and William didn’t bond with Markle, which saddened him. He shared that during their wedding in 2018, Middleton and William switched place cards and changed seats at the wedding.
He shared, “We’d followed the American tradition, placing couples next to each other, but Willy and Kate didn’t like that tradition, so their table was the only one where spouses were apart.” Harry shared that William and Middleton insisted it wasn’t them and said that Harry and Markle did the same at Pippa’s wedding. He wrote in his book:
And they said we’d done the same thing at Pippa’s wedding. We hadn’t. Much as we’d wanted to. We’d been separated by a huge flower arrangement between us, and though we’d desperately wanted to sit together, we hadn’t done a thing about it. None of this airing of grievances was doing us any good, I felt. We weren’t getting anywhere.
It was reported that the drama between the two couples forced the royal family to call a crisis meeting at Kensington Palace. The tensions eventually resulted in Harry and Markle splitting with the monarchy and moving to the United States in 2020.

William and Kate were guests at the wedding, with their oldest son, Prince George, acting as a page boy and their daughter, Princess Charlotte, as a bridesmaid. Harry, who just began dating Markle, was also on the guest list for the wedding. Markle did not attend the wedding but only joined the wedding reception.
Matthews is a hedge fund manager, former racing driver, and heir apparent to the lairdship of Glen Affric. As his wife, Pippa is accorded the title Mrs. Glen Affric the Younger in Scotland. The couple currently shares three children.
