‘Kate might be back, but she’s doing it sensibly, and on her own terms,’ Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, told Hello! ‘Her priorities have changed, and she’s listening to her body, instead of being a people pleaser. The Royal Charity Polo Cup, which this year is raising money for some of the Waleses’ most personal charities, including the British Red Cross, Child Bereavement UK, and We Are Farming Minds, has long been an opportunity for Prince William to swap his suits for a polo shirt and revive the competitive spirit that made him such a successful sportsman at Eton and St Andrews.

But, in more recent years, the event has also been an opportunity for royal watchers to catch a glimpse of Kate Middleton as she supports from the sidelines, holding court among her fellow onlookers. At her last appearance, in 2023, the Princess of Wales was the picture of Summer sporting chic, pairing a Beulah London dress in cornflower blue with a Mulberry purse and cat-eye sunglasses while she sipped from her glass of champagne. In 2022, the mother-of-three wore an ivory number by Emilia Wickstead and brought along a special guest in the form of the family spaniel, Orla, who seemed thrilled to enjoy a day in the Windsor Great Park.
