Meghan Markle and Princess Kate may be sisters-in-law, but it’s safe to say that their relationship has been far from harmonious over the years. Since stepping back from Royal duties in 2020, Meghan, 43, and Prince Harry, 40, have not shied away from expressing their criticisms of Royal life and certain members of the Royal Family.
A prime example is their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they discussed the infamous bridesmaid dress dispute between Meghan and Princess Kate, 43. The disagreement, believed to be over Princess Charlotte’s dress for Meghan and Harry’s wedding not fitting properly, reportedly resulted in Meghan upsetting Kate.
However, Meghan asserted that it was actually the other way around.

While this rumored argument received widespread media coverage at the time, it reportedly wasn’t the only issue Meghan and Kate encountered.

According to a report by The Telegraph last year, the Duchess of Sussex was also reportedly upset in 2019 when she found herself behind Kate in line for the latest designs from a top designer, reports the Express.
Meghan, who was a fan of British designer Erdem Moraloglu’s clothes before becoming a royal, reportedly wanted more outfits from the designer, but Princess Kate was first in line.
This reportedly led to tensions between the two, with Meghan allegedly making a harsh three-word comment about Princess Kate, highlighting one of the ongoing sources of friction between the sisters-in-law.
The Telegraph reports that Meghan Markle questioned why Kate Middleton, who will one day be Queen, was given precedence over her, allegedly stating that Kate “wasn’t even Queen” yet.
The perceived pecking order between the sister-in-laws, rooted in their Royal ranks, is thought to have contributed to their strained relationship.
Meghan herself has hinted at a clash of personalities, once describing herself as a “hugger” which she felt was “jarring” for Brits—a subtle jab implying that Kate may not have been as open to embracing.

In the 2022 Netflix docuseries “Harry and Meghan,” the Duchess recounted: “Even when Will and Kate came over and I was meeting her for the first time, I remember I was in ripped jeans, I was barefoot.
“Like I was a hugger, I have always been a hugger. I didn’t realise that is really jarring for a lot of Brits. I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside.”
