Taylor Swift’s dad is undergoing open heart surgery. On July 16th, Taylor’s rep confirmed to TMZ the 73-year-old underwent quintuple bypass surgery over one month earlier and that his wife Andrea Swift, as well as both Taylor and their son, Austin Swift, were with him throughout the surgery and recovery process. The rep confirmed that the surgery was not a result of a heart attack, but that rather Scott’s doctor saw something during a checkup that led to the procedure. and his recovery is going great. Sources tell the outlet, “Conary bypass surgery involves creating new paths for blood to throw around a blocked or partially blocked artery in the heart.” According to the Mayo Clinic, in this case, Scott’s surgery included creating five new pathways. And it’s no secret Taylor and her dad are close. Not only was he a frequent attendee of her erys tour, but he even joined her at many Kansas City Chiefs games to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce since they began dating in 2023. E-News has reached out to Taylor’s rep for comment, but has not yet heard back.
