Kim Ng
Ridgewood trailblazer Kim Ng [featured in the January 2021 issue of (201)] was named the commissioner of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL). Ng — who previously served as the general manager of the Miami Marlins — will oversee the AUSL’s development and growth during its inaugural season, which kicked off on June 7. According to MLB.com, one of Ng’s first acts as commissioner was to help secure a “first-of-its-kind partnership” between the AUSL and Major League Baseball that will “help the fledgling softball circuit become an established, sustainable entity.”
Vin Scully
The Los Angeles Dodgers honored their late play-by-play announcer Vin Scully [featured in the February 2016 issue of (201)] with a special bobblehead given away at Dodger Stadium.
Thara Prashad and Jay Sean
Thara Prashad [featured in the May 2019 issue of (201)] and Jay Sean [featured in the June 2020 issue of (201)] were in Los Angeles to film a new Lexus ad. “It was a really proud moment for us to work with a brand like Lexus while showcasing our Indian roots,” Prashad says. In other household news, Sean launched 3am Entertainment, a partnership with Virgin Music Group that will focus on developing South Asian artists across all genres. And after 10 successful years as Fire Shaper Tenafly, Prashad relaunched her hot yoga studio as Spirit Warrior Wellness.
Wendy Federman
Wendy Federman [featured in the April 2009 issue of (201)] earned her 17th Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical as a producer of Sunset Blvd.
Val Chmerkovskiy
Dancing With the Stars pro Val Chmerkovskiy [featured in the June 2013 issue of (201)] can be seen on Hulu’s reality competition Got To Get Out. The show features a mix of reality stars and everyday people who have to try to escape a locked mansion for cash prizes.
Jacob Morales
Pascack Hills High School graduate Jacob Morales will be part of the USA Garden State Basketball’s 10-day European tour. The tour runs from August 10 through August 20 with stops in Italy, Malta, Tunisia, France and Spain.
