Stream it or Skip It? The Hunting Wives, Sandman 2 and more | Page Six Radio #shorts

What is worth a stream right now? Well, I think that the big binge watch of the week on Netflix is a new show called The Hunting Wives. It’s a a murder mystery. Got a lot of sexiness. It’s got a lot of steaminess, a little bit of silliness. There’s some satire. This one is not set in a coastal resort, but rather in East Texas. And we follow Britney Snow’s character, who’s an uptight Boston gal who is transported to this very conservative world. And then she falls in with these ladies who are basically NRA moms. There’s a murder. There’s affairs. Um, but I think the standout of this series is Malin Arian as the lead kind of queen bee of the group. U Margot, she’s literally introduced undressing herself in front of Britney Snow. Tata’s out, doesn’t care, flirts with everyone, including Britney Snow. It’s It’s a fun movie. Where can we watch this? This is a Netflix show. You just like those toddry murder mysteries. This is the one for you this week. There is a skip it. And sadly, it is Sandman season 2 part two for reasons that are not just the show’s fault. Um, it’s based on Neil Gaiman’s once beloved, maybe still beloved graphic novel series. The first season when it came out, a lot of people loved it because it felt like a very faithful adaptation. The show was occasionally messy as Neil Gaiman stories are, but what was messier was Neil Gaiman’s real life story. There were some serious allegations that were dropped in between the two seasons. They’re very disturbing to the point where his fandom which you know have been raised on his work that talked you know against sexual assault and violence were horrified and have distanced themselves. It’s one of those things where you just don’t want to deal with you don’t want that kind of storm cloud of sadness over your weekend binge. Stick to Naked Melon. All right. So what else are we streaming? Washington Black on Hulu. Washington Black on Hulu is this really charming series. Um, it gives like a throwback to like when you’re a kid watching Hercules or Zena or some of those like steampunkies shows. Takes place in the 1800s. Um, it opens in Nova Scotia, which is apparently the end of the Underground Railroad, and you see this escape black slave, Washington Black, and he wants to be an inventor. He’s a brilliant genius kid, but his backstory is a little fraught. Um, he was raised in Barbados. He was accidentally responsible for someone’s death or not. And so you he’s being hunted. He’s falling in love. You pivot back to his childhood where this very kind abolitionist inventor takes him under his wing. It’s got Sterling K. Brown. No. Sterling K. Brown is not only starring in this, but he is an EP on it. So, it’s a story that he cares about and he shows up. The movie that everyone will be watching at home, I think, is going to be Happy Gilmore, too, cuz obviously it’s the Return of the Sandman and one of his iconic roles. And the cast is star studded. Like, Bad Bunny is his caddy. Margaret Quali in a bit role. Travis Kelsey plays an announcer. People that you would recognize from the original film like Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen are both back. Um the plot of this story is that um his daughter Vienna, who’s played by his real life daughter Sunonny Stanler, wants to go to dance school, but they don’t have the money. So he goes back into the golf circuit.
