Meghan Markle’s popularity in America has fluctuated since her 2020 decision to step back from the Royal Family.

After officially joining the Royal Family in May 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to Meghan’s homeland two years later.

While her current popularity is positive, it hasn’t yet matched the peak it reached before the Oprah Winfrey interview, which aired a year after she stepped down from Royal duties.

In March 2021, YouGov conducted a survey immediately following the couple’s interview, revealing that 68 percent of Americans sympathized with Harry and Meghan.

The most recent YouGov poll of Americans, conducted in April, showed that 41 percent liked Meghan and 26 percent disliked her, resulting in a net rating of plus 15.

Although she hasn’t yet regained her previous high ranking, Meghan has gained more popularity in the US than she did following the release of Harry’s explosive memoir Spare in early 2023.

In 2020, Harry and Meghan relocated to California with their son Archie, who was born in the UK in 2019.

The couple later welcomed their daughter Lilibet, who was born in June 2021 to Meghan.
