Since their departure from Royal duties five years ago, Meghan and Harry have dabbled in podcasting, documentary making, memoir writing, and influencing, but none of these ventures seem to have resonated with the public.

The only instances where they’ve garnered significant attention is when they’ve spilled secrets about the Royal Family, with millions tuning in to their explosive Oprah interview, their revealing documentary, and Harry’s shocking memoir.

The son of the late Princess Diana recognises that they’ve exhausted the strategy of launching attacks at his family, and if he’s serious about mending bridges, he can’t afford to release another memoir or make further public statements, reports the Express.

Meghan seems content enough to follow the influencer path, promoting wine and profiting from her fashion choices, but for Harry, who was brought up with a strong sense of duty, adjusting to life in Montecito isn’t proving as straightforward.

In the upcoming months, it’s likely we’ll see the Duke engaging more with the work he’s passionate about, collaborating with causes close to his heart. It might not be a lucrative endeavour, but it could provide him with the sense of purpose he’s desperately seeking.

The feeling of liberation that comes with the school holidays is still etched in my memory. The relief of finishing another gruelling year, saying goodbye to exams, homework, and the confines of a stuffy classroom, and embracing six blissful weeks of relaxation.

Emily Ferguson imagines the King and Queen are experiencing a similar sense of respite as they embark on their summer slowdown, following a whirlwind few months of Royal engagements. Their hectic schedule has seen them undertake a one-night visit to Canada, host the Macrons at Windsor, and maintain an impressive diary of commitments.

Despite Charles’s ongoing cancer treatment, which included a health scare in March, the couple shows no signs of slowing down. Their annual Scottish sojourn is just around the corner, with a week-long stay at the Castle of Mey in Caithness, followed by a trip to Balmoral.

While in Scotland, the King will continue to work, poring over diplomatic papers in his signature “red boxes” and potentially holding the occasional audience. Although he’ll be taking a break from public duties and meet-and-greets, he’s always prepared to interrupt his holiday if a pressing event demands his attention.

Last year, he made a poignant visit to Southport in the aftermath of the tragic stabbings and social unrest, and this summer, he’s expected to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day on August 15. The King will have a chance to relax until his schedule ramps up again, with a state visit from Donald Trump marking a swift return to routine.

In the interim, Charles is set to relish lengthy strolls on the 50-acre estate, host family get-togethers and guests, including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, while the Queen will undoubtedly be keen to cosy up with a good read or two.

Here’s hoping they can savour a well-deserved respite and reflect on the triumphs of the year’s first half.

Emily Ferguson has often discussed the monarchy’s soft power, particularly the significance of Royal attire, where choices about the designer, colour or pattern subtly communicate certain messages.

During Macron’s recent state visit, the Princess of Wales donned a dress by French fashion house Givenchy, and this year we’ve seen the King utilise various symbols, such as sporting a red tie and planting a maple tree, to express his support for Canada.

Last week, Emily attended a play dedicated to highlighting the influence of the Royal wardrobe, By Royal Appointment.

Playwright Daisy Goodwin maps pivotal moments in Queen Elizabeth’s reign through her fashion choices, including the occasion she wore the colours of the EU flag following the Brexit referendum and her notorious bright orange coat. With clever quips scattered throughout the performance, it was a fitting tribute to the late Queen – despite a few historical inaccuracies.

It was unexpectedly touching and served as a reminder that there’s no such thing as a coincidence when it comes to fashion choices.

The Duke and Duchess of Wales are making strides in humanising the Royal Family with their clever use of social media.

Last year, they broke new ground by using videos to share stories, offering the public an uncommon peek into their family life. This trend has carried on this year, with birthday celebrations for their children now featuring behind-the-scenes films instead of just photos.

This kicked off with Prince Louis’ birthday in April, and last Tuesday, a charming video highlighting the tight-knit bond between the Wales siblings was shared in honour of Prince George’s special day. The footage of them smiling, laughing and behaving like any other kids underscores that the Royals are just ordinary folk at home.

Best of British to the Lionesses, who are squaring off against old foes Spain in tonight’s Euro 2025 final. At 5pm, they’ll be vying to hold onto their European champions title, in a rematch of the FIFA Women’s World Cup final in Australia in 2023.

England will be out for payback against the Spanish side, who clinched a 1-0 win in the decisive match.

But this time around, they’ll have their lucky mascot cheering them on from the stands – the Duke of Wales. William was there for their 2022 victory and will be rooting for them to hoist the trophy once more.
