Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s multi-year deal with Netflix will expire this fall, and it looks like it won’t be getting renewed. The couple had signed a $100 million contract with the streaming giant in 2020. As per The Sun‘s report, “There is no animosity from either side. Things have just run their course.”

As the contract nears its end, the ‘Suits’ star is reportedly grasping at straws, trying to find the next project that will be perfect for her. According to an insider who confided in Rob Shutter (via Substack), Markle is “Terrified of fading into irrelevance.”

To add to it, Markle would even accept a seat at the table over at ‘The View,’ the insider claims. In their words, “At this point, she’d take a hot topics seat next to Whoopi Goldberg if they let her.” The source continues that Markle is in desperate need of another hit as this upcoming “chapter could make or break her.”

However, the Daily Mail reported that Netflix is working on another deal with Markle, with a source stating, “Make no mistake – a deal is being worked through as we speak.” Well, it remains to be seen what happens next.

    Meghan Markle’s “Failed” Netflix Show

Markle released her own lifestyle TV series, ‘With Love, Meghan’, earlier in March this year, where she shares tips and tricks with her audience, gives a glimpse into her life, and has guests lined up for some candid conversation.

Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer, Alice Waters, are just some of the notable names that have made appearances on the show. Despite being among Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV shows in terms of viewership (47 countries), ‘With Love, Meghan’ is scored 33% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics asking what the point of the show is.

Radar Online stated that the “failed” Netflix show will return for a second season, but that would be all. As for the apparent loss, “Netflix barely blinked”. They added, “The deal is done; no more shows will be made. Netflix feels they’ve got all they can from the couple.”

However, the Daily Mail’s contradictory report states that the show has been “worth it” for Netflix, especially in America, “the only place that matters.” They added that while Prince Harry’s ‘Polo’ may have been a flop, the couple did give the streaming giant its biggest documentary in 2022.

Amidst the uncertainty regarding the Netflix deal, Page Six has reported that the royal couple is working to slash their spendings, and they are apparently doing so by cutting back on staff.

Last month, it was reported that they had said goodbye to six employees, including two in-house reps, and now, it is being said that they have lost a total of 25 staff members since 2020, when they left the royal life behind.

A royal source stated, “It’s the same old story – they cycle through staff as quickly as normal people cycle through toilet paper. Milk lasts longer than their employees.”

So far, they have parted ways with their LA-based deputy press secretary Kyle Boulia, European communications director Charlie Gipson, Archewell’s director of communications Deesha Tank, and Archewell’s former head of operations Lianne Cashin.

As per the report, Markle’s unnamed social media manager and personal assistant has also left the building.

Bills are stacking up for the couple. Page Six reports that Prince Harry and Markle spent a whopping $14.65 million on their US home, for which they took out a $9.5 million mortgage to be paid off with interest by 2050. Moreover, they have to pay an annual property tax of $288,000.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the financial trouble the two may be in. What do you think about the reported mess they supposedly have found themselves in? Let us know in the comments section below!
