Donald Trump’s UK visit has seen him commenting on the royal family, but it appears he might have thrown shade at two former working royals.
Speaking at a press conference, Trump shared his admiration for the Royal Family, including King Charles. However, he followed up his words with a seemingly pointed remark about ‘not great people’ outside the UK.
The comments from Trump during his official UK visit are believed to be a clear dig at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who stepped back from royal life in 2020, before later settling in the US and making California their home.

Speaking at the press conference, President Trump said, “Being with Charles, Camilla and everybody, I’ve got to know because of four years [as President] and now six months.

“I’ve got to know a lot of the family members. They are great people. They are really great people.”
He then added, “And in that sense I think the UK is very lucky. You could have people that weren’t great people. I don’t know if I can say that, but you could have people that weren’t.”
The words have already caught attention online, with social media users spotting the ‘dig’ at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. One person on social media pointed out, “I love the shade President Trump throws at Prince Harry & Meghan Markle.”
Another wrote that Trump was “calling them out.”
The love lost between Trump and the Sussexes has been clear from past events, with Harry allegedly speaking making a sly dig at the US President back in February after he called the Duchess of Sussex “terrible.”
Harry used his speech at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games in Canada to complain about “weak moral character in the world.”

Trump’s “terrible” comment about Meghan was made after he was asked about Prince Harry’s possible deportation amid the Duke of Sussex’s historical drug use, as in his 2023 memoir Spare he admitted he had taken drugs in the past.
The admission prompted the Right-wing Heritage Foundation to suggest he lied with a think tank putting pressure for his visa documents to be released and for him to potentially leave the US.
Trump made his comments in an interview, where he claimed, “I don’t want to do that. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
Trump has also previously said that he is “not a fan” of Meghan, claiming that “Harry is whipped” and “is being led around by his nose.”
