The National Tsunami Warning Centre has issued a tsunami advisory for parts of the US west coast, including California, after a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake hit Russia
The couple’s home is under a warning after an earthquake
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s seaside community is on alert after a tsunami advisory was issued in the wake of a significant earthquake.
The National Tsunami Warning Center has put out a tsunami advisory for parts of the U.S. West Coast, including California, following an enormous 8.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Russia yesterday evening. The advisory covers Santa Barbara County, where Harry and Meghan reside in their luxurious home nestled within Montecito’s elite beachside enclave.
The warning calls for residents to steer clear of the water, shun beaches, and avoid other bodies of water. People have been warned that the risk “may continue for several hours after the initial wave.”

However, the Montecito Fire Protection District has confirmed that there is no need for evacuations. This news comes amidst reports that Prince Harry will ‘never be forgiven’ by two senior royals, despite hopes for a familial thaw.

This isn’t the first time Harry and Meghan’s abode has been under threat from Mother Nature. Earlier in the year, they were on standby for a possible evacuation due to the devastating wildfires tearing through California, as reported by the Mirror, reports Edinburgh Live.
At that time, the Sussexes’ estate was located in a “High Fire Risk Area,” with advisories that “power may be shut off to prevent wildfires.” Fortunately, it appears the fires did not encroach upon their coastal sanctuary.
Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, snagged their current home for a cool $14.65 million in the summer of 2020, where they now live with their six-year-old son, Prince Archie, and four-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet. The sprawling nine-bedroom mansion in Montecito was scooped up by the couple for $14.6 million after they chose to step away from their Royal duties in the U.K..
However, recent estimates from real estate site Zillow suggest that the property could now command a whopping $29 million.
In other news, Alaska, parts of Oregon and Washington, as well as Hawaii, have all been included in a warning issued by the National Tsunami Warning Center. The earthquake that triggered the alert is thought to be the most potent worldwide since the March 2011 quake.
The tsunami affected Russia and Japan
That specific earthquake, which took place off the northeast coast of Japan, clocked in at a magnitude of 9.0 and set off a massive tsunami that resulted in meltdowns at a Fukushima nuclear power plant. Only a few earthquakes of greater strength have been documented globally.
A tsunami has already hit coastal areas of Russia’s Kuril Islands and Japan’s large northern island of Hokkaido. Residents were urged to move to higher ground in several regions, but places where tsunami waves have already landed reported no significant damage.
A tsunami measuring 60 centimeters was detected at Hamanaka on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido and Kuji port in Iwate on the main island, a rise from the previous 40cm tsunami, as reported by the Japan Meteorological Agency.
A representative confirmed that the second or third tsunami waves had hit and warned that high waves could continue for at least a day. Japan’s Fire and Disaster Management Agency has not reported any injuries or damage, but it has issued an evacuation advisory to over 900,000 residents along the Pacific coast from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
