Meghan Markle was labeled a “poisonous troublemaker” by a Royal commentator who argued it came as no shock that the Royal Family remained silent on her birthday this week. The Duchess of Sussex marked her 44th birthday on Monday, August 4.

However, aside from a select few of her celebrity friends who posted birthday messages online, numerous fans and Royal observers highlighted the Firm’s conspicuous silence across social media platforms.

The most recent occasion when the royals publicly acknowledged Meghan’s birthday was in 2021, when she reached 40, over a year following her departure as a senior working Royal alongside Prince Harry.

A Royal expert has now told the Express that the Firm’s quiet response to the Duchess’s milestone day represented “not just a snub” but an “understandable dodge of her drama”.

Meghan’s ties with the Firm have remained chilly for five years at this point. The Duchess, frequently joined by the Duke of Sussex, has leveled numerous accusations against Royal Family members and the institution over time, most of which have never received any response from Firm representatives.

The departed monarch is thought to have implemented a new rule that the Royal Family will only publicly acknowledge the birthdays of non-working royals when they reach a milestone year, ending in a zero.

When Meghan celebrated her 41st birthday in 2022, the late Queen’s then-Twitter account remained quiet, leading many Royal observers to label the lack of acknowledgment a “snub”, despite wishing her a happy 40th birthday the previous year.

In 2021, they posted three photos of the Duchess with the caption: “Wishing the Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday today!”.

The royals also extended birthday wishes to Prince Harry when he hit the big 4-0 last September.
