With ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ Taylor Swift enters her orange era | Currently Trending
Orange, you glad she’s back. Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, is officially on its way. The Grammy winner famously picks a signature color for each of her musical eras. Purple for Speak Now, pink for Lover, red for well, red, and so on. And from the look of things, Showgirl will be all about orange. It’s the shade of the glittery vinyls containing Swift’s new music, her refreshed website layout, and most importantly, all 12, yes, 12 Aristo costumes her team shared on Instagram hours before the album’s title reveal. Fans of Swift’s stage costumes will remember the orange versions of her lover bodysuit by Versace and her 1989 skirt sets and surprise song dresses from Roberto Kavali. And while the merry gold retro gown she wore for the Evermore section of the show was phased out over the course of the tour, Swift introduced a slew of new costumes in sunset shades when she kicked off her European shows and notably wore her golden orange 1989 set for all three of her final performances in Vancouver. When one door closes, it seems another orange door opens. The superstars embraced orange in other ways lately, too. While her love of a red lip surely isn’t going anywhere, she’s been mixing it up over the past year by wearing Nars’s Morocco shade, a warm cinnamon/ terracotta, more and more frequently. Of course, all this begs the question, what does the color orange tell us about the life of a showgirl? The hot hues associated with optimism, warmth, energy, and enthusiasm. And right now, Taylor Swift has every reason to be smiling. She recently acquired her master recordings after a year’sl long battle. Her relationship with Travis Kelce seems stronger than ever, and her eras tour smashed record after record and made her a billionaire. And then there’s her new Spotify playlist released in tandem with her new album’s title, which is comprised entirely of past songs she worked on with Swedish pop super producer Max Martin, and suggests he was a key collaborator on Showgirl. Given that Martin and Swift brought us iconic bops like Blank Space, Shake It Off, 22, and I Knew You Were Trouble, and the peppy color palette she’s picked for her upcoming album, it’s probably safe to say we’re in for a pop masterpiece.
