It seems Prince William and Prince Harry have another battle between them: seeing which one will be the godfather to their mutual pal Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster’s, child. Earlier this year, Hugh and his wife, Olivia Henson, welcomed a daughter named Cosima Florence Grosvenor, and apparently, they’re still deciding on who the godfather will be.

Per The Times of London, Hugh is “still considering” whether to ask Harry or William as the godfather. This is extremely tough for numerous reasons. For one thing, Hugh has been pals with both since they were all kids, and per Hello, his father, Gerald, was a mentor to William.

Since then, Hugh has been named the godfather for William’s son, Prince George, and the godfather to Harry’s son, Prince Archie.

Now, one aspect that may hurt Harry’s chances is that he missed out on Hugh and Henson’s 2024 wedding. While William served as an usher at their wedding, Harry was absent. To avoid an “awkward” situation with William, Harry and Meghan Markle opted out of attending, despite Hugh’s wishes. A source told The Times that “[Grosvenor] wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realizes it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.”
