Now that Netflix has announced the fate of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s production deal, it’s time for the royal duo to get to work.
The Duchess of Sussex has plenty of tasks to do with her upcoming second season of With Love, Meghan, including a holiday special and her product line. Now, The Sun is reporting that Harry is looking to his late mother, Princess Diana, for his next major project.
He’s eyeing a possible docuseries to coincide with the 30th anniversary of her passing, which is just two years away — August 2027. “If Harry wants to do it then Netflix will bite his hand off,” an entertainment insider claimed to the U.K. outlet. While some royal critics will say it is in bad taste to focus on his mother, Harry might want to look back at her legacy through his eyes as her son.

It’s likely that many networks will be doing their own specials, so Harry might as well do one that doesn’t have a tabloid angle. The Duke of Sussex has been open about his grief after losing his mother at the age of 12, but he still fondly remembers the sweet parts of her personality.
“I don’t have many early memories of my mum. It was almost like, internally, I sort of blocked them out,” he said in the first episode of Harry & Meghan. “But I always remember her laugh, her cheeky laugh. Her always saying to me, ‘You can get in trouble, just don’t get caught.’ I’ll always be that cheeky person inside.”
Her passing in 1997 profoundly impacted every aspect of his life, which is likely why he chose to move to the U.S. when the royal family feud began. “What happened to my mum, and the fact that I was a kid and felt helpless, there comes the inner turmoil. I felt helpless,” Harry said at The New York Times Dealbook Summit in December 2024. “One of my biggest weaknesses is feeling helpless.”
One way for Harry to take charge is to honor her life in a documentary — her work, her philanthropy, and the charming personality that dazzled the world. It’s no longer about telling his story; it could be a definitive work about Princess Diana.
