A video of Prince Harry’s arrival at a U.K. court prompting a flurry of camera shutters went viral on TikTok ahead of an upcoming visit to his home country.

The Duke of Sussex’s most recent trip to Britain took place in April, when he sat in on a Court of Appeal hearing in which his lawyers argued the removal of his police protection team in 2020 was unlawful.

Harry lost the high-profile case which drew substantial coverage in the media, so substantial that he was treated to a volley of photos as he arrived for the second day of the hearing.

    Why It Matters

A TikTok clip of the moment went viral after it was liked 12.5k times and viewed 367k times, having been posted with the on-screen caption: “Paparazzi go crazy for Prince Harry during London visit.”

The prince will be back on U.K. shores again on September 8, when he will attend the WellChild Awards in London, according to the event organizers.

    What to Know

While there were no visible camera flashes during daylight hours, Harry’s arrival at court sparked the audible rattle of many cameras taking pictures at the same time.

Lawyers for the duke argued Home Office guidelines required a specific risk assessment which had not been done. Meanwhile, the Government said Harry’s case was unique and it was therefore perfectly legitimate to tailor the process to the specifics of his situation.

Harry lost the case and is still without guaranteed police protection on trips to Britain.

Instead, he has a “bespoke” arrangement where Metropolitan Police bodyguards are provided for some events but not others. For example, he had a police protection team when attending King Charles’ Coronation in 2023 and Platinum Jubilee events for which he had an invitation in 2022.

    What Happens Next

Harry will be in London for the WellChild awards on September 8, sparking questions about whether he will see his father.

King Charles will be marking the anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, which for the last two years he has done in private in Scotland, stepping out to go to church at Crathie Kirk.
