It’s official: Kate Middleton has blonde hair now. She was first spotted with what looked like golden locks through a car window last week, but on Thursday she stepped out publicly with the look for the first time on a visit to London’s Natural History Museum.

According to the Independent, Kate and Prince William got caught in the rain while viewing the museum’s new garden with a group of schoolchildren but were good sports about it, with Middleton sheltering a few of the students under her umbrella.

This appears to be Kate’s first foray into blondeness, and it’s kind of huge news. As a dedicated Love Island U.K. viewer, I can confirm that hair color is a really big deal to British people and often the No. 1 character trait that helps them decide who to date.

Speaking of life partnership: William has also been experimenting with his hair lately, keeping up with the beard he grew out last year. What will these two do next? Personally, I hope William graduates to a handlebar mustache and Kate gives the jellyfish haircut a spin.
