Derek and Julianne Hough reminisce on 20 years of “Dancing with the Stars”
This is our 20th year of Dancing with the Stars. It’s unbelievable the back like go back 20 years and just be like, “Hey, there’s this ball arm dance show with celebrities in it and this show is going to be thriving in 20 years time. This type of show is going to thrive in a climate like now where social media and all these different things and it it’s going to thrive. Who would have thought that, you know, who we could never have seen this?” Also, it’s so wild because I distinctively remember this show relaunching careers. I feel like people don’t talk about that as much, but it is a relaunch of a career. This Yeah, but this show this show was definitely a a relaunch platform for so many years. I had just turned 18, so I was just this little kid who graduated high school, moved to LA, and you know, my first season, had no idea what this was going to turn into cuz it was still early days, too. It was season 4. And I remember Apollo Ono was my first partner. We had that, you know, that dance, the samba and the little like tiger outfit. I felt like that was my coming out party. Like it really was. It was. And um, you know, from that moment on, I just was like, “This is my family.” You know, not just the people in the ballroom and the producers and everybody, but also the people that have been watching this show for so long. truly like everybody has been on this journey with me for almost 20 years and I feel like this show has raised me. Right now we’re in this sort of era, this new era of Dancing with the Stars which is honestly it’s sort of like this young, fresh and exciting. So much ahead. It’s so it’s so exciting. So, but with that said too, a big shout out to to all the fans who’ve been watching for so long because without you truly, I mean, shows are getting let go and cancelled left, right, and center. I mean, we’re going strong. We’re going strong and it’s because of the fans who have been tuning in every single year for 20 years. So, thank you guys.
