Debbie Gibson praise Tate McRae, Benson Boone, Gracie Abrams, more with Page Six Radio #shorts
What is your relationship like with all the pop girlies out there right now seeing you know like the the Addison’s and the Tates and everyone coming up at like do you pay attention? Do you listen to that kind of music? You were such a pioneer in that space. Yes. I mean I think there’s just such like a oh my god it makes me makes my heart so happy that the landscape is like being pioneered by so many young women who have such a vision for themselves and it all feels very pure. So that lets me know that the record executives are kind of staying out of the way maybe of artists and the relationship with their audiences and it feels like you know like you say Tate McCrae like I’m like she looks like she is dressing herself like to feel her vibe on stage like I’m getting that authenticity from a lot especially from the females but the males like Benson Boon I love him. You’re going to start doing back flips like him. Definitely not. You will never I always say that is something I will never experience in my lifetime. No, but I met him I met him on a flight uh at JSX the JSX terminal. And when I tell you he was so and you guys might have met him, I don’t know, but he’s so unassuming to the point that you’re like, “Wow.” Because having been doing this for like this is, you know, almost 40 years for me. I’ve met so many people and you see people you’re like, “All right, they’re as nice as they have to be to me right now.” Or they’re nice for a showbiz person. They’re nice for the moment they’re having. He was just nice. Yeah. Like hardworking, unassuming is the word, you know, and and so I love seeing that. And I feel like there’s a lot of that. Gracie Abrams, I was at the Songwriters Hall of Fame with her. She was very generous with like, “Oh my god, you did this first.” And like there was that kind of uh camaraderie which was so nice and I love that so much. And I I reference Chapel Ran in the book like you know, Pink Pony Club to me is like a Mozart melody. Like it really there’s a reason why that song’s such a massive hit. Kindergarten kids are belting it out. The grandparents, everyone’s belting out. It’s just magical. But you take Ping Pon, it’s like, you know, it sounds orchestral to me. Like it sounds really classic and classical. And so I just think there’s a lot of artists doing amazing work. [Music]
