Page Six Radio reacts to ‘SNL’ cast shakeups
So, despite Heidi Gardner being a staple on SNL for the past eight seasons, the comedian will not be part of season 51 because her contract was not renewed. It’s time for a new cast, the insider told us, which makes me sad cuz I liked Heidi. And I’m sad to see her go. She was one of my favorites from I know this this current cast. Well, I cuz I love like, you know, like the girl not so current cast. Mhm. Heidi got the chop alongside Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakeim, and Devin Walker. So, those are the ones who are saying goodbye to us. And the five new cast members, if you guys know who they are, I’m not super familiar with most of them except for Veronica Slavacowska from Tik Tok. There’s Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Khane, Ben Marshall, and Cam Patterson. Ben Marshall, SNL fans will know because he was in the digital group, the Please Don’t Destroy. Tommy Brennan, I did not know that man. He’s handsome though. Is he? Yeah. He has like a cute like kind of like an all like an all American smile. I know. I did see a Tik Tok of SNL intern. Oh, who is being really messy? A former SNL intern. What’ they say? What’ they do? Why am I getting myself? Do it, you know. Yeah, we’re across the street from 30 Rock. You know, he can’t come in here. But also, blame your former intern. And I don’t know any of this. I’m asleep at Saturday at 11:30. He apparently gives them all. He makes everybody sit like like they’re in kindergarten class in his office to dole out like your sketch is in, your sketch is out. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but that’s what this um former intern was saying. Literally like the Hunger Games. He had full Elizabeth uh Banks wig on. Oh, no. Thank you. No. Um but I don’t like the Hunger Games and I don’t like that wig. Yeah. Well, I don’t know if he was really wearing it. Lauren, imagine that’s the one thing Lauren Susan for. Um but he apparently like makes everybody that’s how the pressure cooker increases. And the girl also said she was like the that a lot of times SNL is hard to work for now and very toxic and chaotic because people don’t use the stimulants that they used uh for in the 70s and 80s. Okay, which you know Dare works. So the kids now are not using them but uh I guess makes it a little bit harder. Devin Walker, to the intern’s alleged points, recently told Rolling Stone that it was a toxic environment and that he felt the decision to walk away from the show was mutual. To be frank, I guess the best way I put it is like me and the show kind of looked at each other and we decided together that it was time to go our separate ways. And this kind of brings up the point we were talking about yesterday because the uh Veronica Slovakowska who you said it’s so funny on TikTok, super successful there. Is she going to want to deal with the BS? You know, not her, but I’m using her as the example of the new uh class of uh comedians on SNL. Like, is she going to want to be like, why am I getting yelled at at a Thursday at 3:00 a.m. right when I usually was sleeping making bank posting my the content I want to post? Yeah, it’ll it’ll be interesting to see if some of these younger comedians, some of them who have already found success on platforms like Tik Tok stick around for long because they might be over the the BS. I mean, the the way Devin said is he said it was toxic as hell and he called it a up little family. So, I don’t know if they want to if they want to be adopted into that sort of family dynamic. We will see. He said there was a lot of dysfunction behind the scenes. So, I don’t know. Maybe these new kids are ready for it. Maybe they’re looking forward to it. Maybe they’re like, “I’m tired of filming by myself in my apartment or on the streets of New York and I just I want to be on camera and bered.” Yeah. They’re like, “My hand my arm is so cramped. I’m holding my arm selfie style for years, right? I need to change it.” Or maybe they could maybe they could all be like, “Hey, we’re not doing that.” And they’ll start to change us in hell. Oh, right. Okay. So, like sort of form a little coalition. They’re like, “Um change you want to see in the world.” Yeah. They’re like, “A therapist on TikTok told me to set boundaries. I’m going home at 5:45 p.m. Oh, right. Like, I wonder how Lauren is going to interact with a Gen Z Tik Tocker comedian because Gen Z, they’re they were made different and we love them for all their differences. They are very inspiring. They don’t take and they march to the beat of their own drum. Mhm. And that’s that. And like I feel like millennials, we just have such a different approach to life. We’re so peopleleasing. so people pleasing it. It works to our detriment and Jenzers, they don’t have that. So, I’m excited to see what a non-peopleleasing comedian on SNL looks like and how it does honestly shake things up. So, if if Lauren is looking for a shakeup, he’s about to get it. He’s going to get it. [Music]
Out with the old, in with the new. Despite Heidi Gardner being a staple on “Saturday Night Live” for the past eight seasons, the comedian will not be part of Season 51 because her contract was not renewed, The Post reports. “It’s time for a new cast,” an insider told the outlet as shakeups continue at the iconic sketch comedy show. Page Six Radio hosts Danny Murphy and Evan Real are reacting to the cast members who are departing, and those that are coming in.
