The next generation of English royals have enjoyed as normal a childhood as possible, given that a spotlight has been on them all their lives. William and Kate chose to send George, heir to the throne after his father, to the co-ed Lambrook School. This departure from royal tradition allows him to be enrolled with both of his siblings, People reported.
Kate, an outspoken advocate for early childhood wellness and support, has candidly shared her philosophies on parenting. “The relationships in a family, or that’s surrounding a child, [are] so important,” she told radio host Roman Kemp in a 2023 interview. “The environment in which you bring up a child is as important…It’s not about the number of toys they’ve got or the number of sort of trips that you go on with them,” Kate continued. “It’s just making sure that they’ve got the right emotional support around them and that comes from the adults in their lives.”
To that end, the couple have consistently prioritized their children’s well-being as they navigate their respective royal duties and the pressures of public life. When Kate revealed she was undergoing treatment for cancer in a March 2024 video message, she explained that she held off on publicly disclosing her diagnosis until she could explain it to her children and “reassure them” she would be okay.

William and Kate welcomed their firstborn child, son George Alexander Louis, on July 22, 2013. He was born at London’s St. Mary’s Hospital, according to his official royal bio. Prince George is an heir to the British throne, falling second in the line of succession after his father.
A few months before George’s third birthday, William touched on the importance of family in an interview with BBC Royal Correspondent Nick Witchell. “I’m concentrating very much on my role as a father,” the royal said. “I’m a new father and I take my duties and my responsibilities to my family very seriously and I want to bring my children up as good people with the idea of service and duty to others as very important.”
Later in the interview, he spoke of his firstborn son and his future obligations to the monarchy, “They’ll be a time and a place to bring George up and understand how he fits in the world, but right now it’s just a case of keeping a secure, stable environment around him and showing him as much love as I can as a father.”

George’s first foreign trip as a royal came when he was 1 year old, as he accompanied his parents on a three-week tour of New Zealand and Australia in 2014, per the official website of the royal family. He’s since attended numerous events, such as a Buckingham Palace tea honoring WWII veterans in May 2025. At the event, People reported in an August 2025 cover story, he “asked thoughtful questions” and radiated a quiet confidence befitting of a future king.
Outside of his royal duties, the young prince enjoys attending soccer games with his father, spending time with his friends from Lambrook School, and spending time in nature. “It’s so important to get outside, and have the children understand nature,” William said in the ITV special Prince Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall.
As George starts his final year at Lambrook before beginning secondary school in 2026, the princess offered an update on her eldest son. “George is already in my shoes,” she told a local during a September 4 visit to the Natural History Museum in London, seemingly referring to how the 12-year-old wears her size. “They’re getting big now,” she added of all her children, holding up her hand to indicate how much they’ve grown, as seen in a TikTok video of the conversation.

The Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed their first daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, on May 2, 2015. Princess Charlotte was born at the same hospital as her older brother. Her middle names pay tribute to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her late grandmother, Princess Diana. Her first name also nods to grandfather King Charles, being the feminine version of his moniker.
“The Queen [Elizabeth II] was really thrilled that it was a little girl, and I think as soon as we came back here to Kensington she was one of our first visitors here,” Kate shared of the monarch’s reaction in an ITV interview in 2016, per ABC News. “It’s very special having a new little girl,” she added.
From the start, Charlotte (known as Lottie to her family) developed a close bond with her big brother, George. A source told People that Kate described Charlotte as “looking forward to school” when the then-4-year-old joined her older brother at Thomas’s Battersea in 2019.
William and Kate shared a new portrait of their daughter on Instagram in honor of her 10th birthday in May 2025. “Happy 10th Birthday Princess Charlotte! ❤,” they wrote in the caption, adding that Kate had taken the photograph. The image shows Charlotte smiling outside while wearing a camouflage jacket and a backpack, indicating she may have been on a hike. Commenters were quick to point out her resemblance to her father and grandmother.
Chief among Charlotte’s interests is horseback riding, per a 2021 article from The Times. She wore a diamond horseshoe brooch at Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral. The brooch had been gifted to her by her late great-grandmother, who also had a love of horses.
As third in line to the throne, the young princess has already gotten a glimpse of royal duties while accompanying her parents to public events. At just 1 year old, she joined William, Kate, and brother on an official royal trip to Canada, per a BBC report from the time. More recently, during the pandemic, a then-5-year-old Charlotte helped deliver meals to seniors who were isolating near the family’s Norfolk country home.
In July 2025, the 10-year-old joined her family at the Royal Box at Wimbledon. She was spotted whispering with her tennis-loving mom during the game, proving herself equally passionate about the sport. The mother-daughter duo appeared graceful as ever, cooling themselves with matching fans at the event.

William and Kate’s youngest child, son Louis Arthur Charles, was born on April 23, 2018. A source described Prince Louis as “the most cheerful, smiley little boy” to People ahead of his first birthday.
Kate noted in 2021 that he was “very quick” on his “little scooter,” quipping, “I can’t keep up with him,” per People. On his seventh birthday in April 2025, the palace shared a video to Instagram of Louis jumping and playing outside, suggesting he hasn’t slowed down a bit.
He’s quite at home in the outdoors, whether playing games with his siblings or gardening. In September 2019, People reported that Kate had told a parent “how her son Louis loves smelling flowers. He enjoys being outside.”
At a September 2025 visit to the Women’s Institute to honor Queen Elizabeth on the third anniversary of her death, William opened up about his youngest son. In a video posted to X by GB News correspondent Cameron Walker, the heir described Louis as “a character, but he’s a very good boy” and said he “likes to wind his brother and sister up,” prompting laughter from his company.

Like his two older siblings, Louis attends the Lambrook school near the family’s Berkshire home. When he’s not in classes, the 7-year-old is by William and Kate’s side at events like Trooping the Colour and the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. His humorous antics often steal the show during these outings—such as when he mirrored his grandpa King Charles at the latter event by mimicking his wave in an adorable manner.
