When Kate Middleton dresses up, the outfit always has a deeper meaning to it. And once again, the Princess of Wales has infused her wardrobe with hidden symbolism on her latest royal visit to textile mills in Sudbury and Cuxton. After her solo appearance, eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed her gold Danielle Draper necklace, which featured a letter charm for each of her three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
This is not it. Her outfit also paid homage to Prince William. The chic suit, which she was wearing, featured a particular plaid called the Prince of Wales check, as per People magazine. The pattern selection was a tribute to her husband, Prince William, who was made the Prince of Wales in 2022 by King Charles III.
According to Savile Row Company, the Prince of Wales check originated in the valley of Glenurquhart in Inverness-shire, Scotland. The description says that “it is a woven design of small and large checks” traditionally made up of “black/grey and white”. Edward VIII, the grandson of Edward VII, made the check fashionable. Then, in the late 1980s, Princess Diana had sported the same print Kate Middleton wore for her visit to Suffolk and Kent.
Meanwhile, earlier, Middleton stepped out in a honey blonde that lit up headlines. The change was captured during an official engagement, her new shade of hair caught attention with every turn of her head. However, just two days later, she was back to her darker hair colour – Chestnut brown. The Princess attended the Women’s Rugby World Cup group stage clash between England and Australia. For the event, she wore her hair half-up, half-down, the style neat yet unfussy.
According to the Instagram page Kate Middleton Styled, she chose a Cascade Ruffle Blouse by Knatchbull. Her tailoring touch came via her favourite fashion design house, Alexander McQueen, as she wore their Leaf Crepe Wool Jacket in black. She paired it with high-waist trousers. Accessories pulled the look into sharper focus: a Chanel Mini Classic handbag, discreet yet instantly recognisable, alongside Cartier’s Small Trinity Earrings in pink, yellow and white gold.
