Would you like to order a double celebrity sighting with your morning cold brew?
That was the pleasant surprise served to customers this morning after Adam Sandler and a famous friend stopped by a popular Upstate New York coffee shop.
Sandler and Kevin James, a fellow comedian, visited Motor Oil Coffee’s store in downtown Albany on Wednesday. Sitting at a table with hot drinks in front of them, the pals posed for a photo with a smiling staff member in the 136 State St. eatery, which is a short walk from the New York State Capitol building, The Egg and Empire State Plaza.

The coffee stop came the morning after the Sandman and a few of his celebrity friends — including James, a SUNY Cortland alumnus — performed a show for tens of thousands of people at MVP Arena.
Sandler brought his “You’re My Best Friend” tour to Albany on Tuesday evening. The sold-out show featured appearances from an impressive bunch of the Saturday Night Live alum’s friends and frequent collaborators: Steve Buscemi, Kevin Nealon, Rob Schneider and Luis Guzman, MVP Arena marketing director Erin Villeneuve told the Times Union.
In a Facebook post, Motor Oil Coffee gave Sandler and James a shout out, thanking the pair for “revving up their morning with us after an unforgettable show at the MVP Arena”.
“We’re honored to have these legends stop by and support our local, family-owned shop,” the coffee shop wrote.
Sandler isn’t done with Upstate New York yet.
The actor will perform a stand-up comedy show tonight at the Upstate Medical University Arena at The Oncenter War Memorial in Syracuse.
Sandler has a connection to Syracuse.
He played a Syracuse University grad in 1999’s “Big Daddy,” where he donned Orangemen T-shirts. Recently, an SU graduate played a young Happy Gilmore in flashback scenes included in “Happy Gilmore 2.”
After his show in Syracuse, Sandler will head to Buffalo, performing his last Upstate show at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo on Sunday, Sept. 21.
